Re: Hi lift / farm jacks. What size do you recommend?

I have the shorter one. I can store it IN the Syncro, and the height is more than enough to lift a lifted 16" Syncro on one side with both tires. You just need to weld an adaptor for the original jack points.

Re: Merry Xmas

Merry Christmas from Tyrol!

And of course a great new Syncro-Year with a lot of great events and no accidents (car and people).

Re: Let the arguments commence......

Hello Simon

I've never seen any warped plate in a VC.

Sure I've not seen each VC, but I can't imagine how the plates could get warped.
The only damage of the plates (as I've seen) are circular scratches, made by rotation difference between the two "sides".

Re: Stupid question!

Oettinger had springs for that job. I know a lowered Syncro Oettinger WBX6, that makes a lot of fun on the road.

Re: 1984 syncro near Vienna anyone?

As far as I know, here in Austria the first registration date is used for the building date most time. The VW VIN tells the model year in the 10th position (L for 1990, alphabetical order), it doesn't tell about the production month. If a Syncro is from 84, the first owner should have been VW, SDP o...

I think it's a CV.

Perhaps you changed the wrong drive shaft?

Re: We are in Austria Radiator gone need new one help needed!!!!

Just got Kevin's answer to my email: They were in Germany at Guenzel and are now driving to Holland.

If anyone here is in Austria and having problems, please write me a PM.

Re: We are in Austria Radiator gone need new one help needed!!!!

Just reading this - could you get one? I'm living in Tyrol and could find a used or new part and help with changing it, even in Soelden.

Greetings, Christian

Re: Best 16" AT tyre?

I drive Grabber AT2 on my 16" Doka. The tyre looks very nice (fat) and also is great offroad. The loudness depends on the pressure but the sound is nice and not too loud. I drive it every day. I drove the old Yokohama Geolandar and it was really great on road and not bad off road. If your roads...

Re: Front left hand inner CV boot replacement

You just need to open the big nut of the shaft, the 2 Inbus screws (red arrows) (take care for the brake hose) and the nut of the swaybar holder (arrow). Then you can put the shaft out in the position as seen on the picture (Mammutpark 2011, not me  )

Re: Help...advice needed

I dropped the oil from the diff last night. It was a little dirty but no unusual smells. The drain plug had a few bits of metal stuck to it. If the VC at fault wouldn't I expect to oil to be really smelly? Or is this not alway the case? only if it has leaked its fluids. neil You can only smell oil ...

Re: Clutch cylinder set up, is it different from a 2wd?

Hello Bikermike First you have to find the leak at the fluid system. If there is fluid at the master cylinder, it can come from the seal where the tube/pipe from the fluid tank gets into the cylinder. If that seal is not leaking, the master cylinder is defect. You don't need any manual if you can co...

Re: Help...advice needed

I think it is a hard VC. When my VC was really hard it had that symptom in bends. When driving straight there was no such feeling, but all 4 wheels had nearly no difference at the tyre profile. When I stopped after a bend the car kept standing at the same place for a while, then it did a little &quo...
