I have the shorter one. I can store it IN the Syncro, and the height is more than enough to lift a lifted 16" Syncro on one side with both tires. You just need to weld an adaptor for the original jack points.

I've never seen any warped plate in a VC.

Sure I've not seen each VC, but I can't imagine how the plates could get warped.
The only damage of the plates (as I've seen) are circular scratches, made by rotation difference between the two "sides".

Oettinger had springs for that job. I know a lowered Syncro Oettinger WBX6, that makes a lot of fun on the road.

As far as I know, here in Austria the first registration date is used for the building date most time. The VW VIN tells the model year in the 10th position (L for 1990, alphabetical order), it doesn't tell about the production month. You just need to open the big nut of the shaft, the 2 Inbus screws (red arrows) (take care for the brake hose) and the nut of the swaybar holder (arrow). Then you can put the shaft out in the position as seen on the picture (Mammutpark 2011, not me )
