Stupid question!

Post by serenitycamper »

You're probably going to laugh me out the door but.....can a synchro be lowered to a standard ride height?

Be kind.... 8)

Yes it can be done, and has been done by others in the past, but requires alot of work.

Oettinger had springs for that job. I know a lowered Syncro Oettinger WBX6, that makes a lot of fun on the road.

I just quite fancied the 4WD aspect at a 2WD ride height. I was thinking safety as we live in an area that gets really heavy snow. Plus it's on a bloody steep hill so ice and snow is a nightmare. If its possible to lower a synchro without any running gear alterations I'll be a very happy camper.

Are they permanent 4WD or selectable?

Thank you so much for the info guys :) keep it coming!!

Syncros (check spelling) are permanent 4WD but if its just snow you are worried about simply get a good set of snow tyres. Four wheels spinning is the same as two wheels spinning if you have the wrong tyres fitted. 4WD is great for going up hills but they are just the same as a 2WD when going down on summer tyres ...
