Heater Blower housing

Post by VdoubleU »

Hi to anybody out there, I am new to the club as I have just purchased a 1987 1.9 watercooled camper(with as I am begining to understand all the usual probs!) managed to get dash out and free heater blower, but does anybody know how to get into the housing to change the fan/motor :?:

Followed this through to get where I am, but can't work out the clips / tabs on the actual plastic housing to get into change the motor/fan. The link says haynes say you can get into the housing and refit clips after, any ideas?? :)

Hi VdoubleU
Prise the clips off with a screw driver / chisel and then they hammer back on with a sharp blow
 sounds rough but it worked for me and I have had no problems since, they only hold the housing together :o you cold always melt the plastic back together with an old soldering iron
( I have seen that before ) oh watch out they fly off
After that lift the motor out, swap for replacement making sure you dont mangle the cables, give it a good clean whilst its out and grease / lubricate all moving parts, oh test it before you seal it back up. There is nothing worst than fitting it and finding out it DOES NOT WORK :(

Its not broke? fiddle with it until it is, then you can fix it
Oh and the name is pronounced CRISIS
