You don't need a new inlet/exhaust system but to me it is odd to go to all the effort of upgrading the hp only to lose some of it by stifling the engine's breathing. You will undoubtedly lose some.

I have spent the afternoon trying to work out the wiring situation.

I have come to the conclusion that as mine is a 1983 van, that this is the early system and only uses one oil pressure switch wiki. I don't appear to have a wire for the second oil pressure switch mounted on the top of the oil filter housing.

Is this likely to cause me any problems?

It does explain why the CS always had the glowplug light on though. The wire for the glow plug temp sensor was connected to the 2nd oil pressure switch :?
If this had been correct then I may not have tried to change glow plugs, which led to my CS cracking its head

Certain of it, haven't driven her for 6 months.

I very much appreciate all the help I've been given on here from everyone.

Nearly ready to put all back in van, just need a few torque values?

Gearbox mounting bracket to gearbox
Gearbox mounting bracket to cross member

Engine mount to chassis -front (2 bolts per bracket, 1 attached to the funny extra metal bracket)
Engine mount to chassis -rear (2 bolts per bracket)

All help greatly appreciated

So the engine and gearbox are now physically installed on the van. Nothing is connected up yet though, that's the next job.

Only just spotted this thread...must say the advise you have been given has been somewhat thin and bordering on negative at times! No wonder your getting a fecked off with it at some points....I'm here to help if you need anything advising on in future.

So I think everything on the engine is now connected up.

I rather optimistically tried to start her up after finishing it all. Starter turns but not catching. Think I need to get some diesel into the fuel line between the fuel filter and the engine.
Tempted to fit a primer bulb but hesitant to cut into a brand new fuel line.

Tasks left to do are - bleed clutch slave and connect up the gearbox to the drive shafts. Oh and get the bloody thing to start. :x

Why cut the new fuel line? Primer to new line, line from primer to injection pump, job done. Remove primer after done.

I was under the impression that primer bulbs we're permanently fitted. Hadn't thought of temporarily fitting one

That's what I do if I need to prime with one - if you need one all the time there is something wrong with the system - air leak somewhere.
As an aside - i have had an air leak in my boat's system which I haven't been able to solve in 10+ years but the engine already has a primer on the fuel filter so haven't worried about it too much as I just give it a few pumps if it has been left a while. (I suspect the standpipe has a pinhole in it at the top inside the tank, all the rest has been renewed).

So I got fuel in the fuel line between fuel filter and pump.
Turned key, starter turned. Nothing fired up.

Glow light had come on then turned off. Have voltage on fuel cut off solenoid.

Head scratching time
