Yup 2nd that, mine is looking crusty, and I was wondering what was in behind it ? So its just the inner sill which is good on mine, so I can sort it out from the outside.
Lovely welding that !

Cheers

Does the syncro have different trailing arm bushes or standard T25 bushes do?? ... old ones drilled out.

Now ordered 2x new inner sills from Schofields and getting Kenny, aka Mouldylocks, aka Volkszombie to do the crafting. Be work of art when finished. He is good. I hated being under there and making a right mess... A syncro deserves better.

Got some VACTAN RUST CONVERTER AND PRIMER (as used on P&O ferries - allegedly) for in inners and everywhere. Should be fine for some time to come.

Yes, all structural, should be some photos here, made the inner up in about 3 or 4 sections (changes curvature in all 3 planes towards the jacking point...

Front https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ar ... ing_points" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Rear https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ar ... oss-member" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some good info in the rear link, but I haven't uploaded photos of the actual jacking point rebuild, and inner arch strengthening (important IMO, if to be used for jacking)

You seem to be getting on fine and making good progress by those photos ... seems the same drip drip has corroded around the Shnorkel box and rear chassis member rail capping as on one of mine, water seems to come down inside from the air vent?

Wow, even more progress... took me weeks to do one jacking point, but went back to scratch and re-made as per VW original. And made up my own sill from scratch, 3D metal forming :roll: , daft I know

All the chassis rails will be waxoyled inside but the sills will have further work next year when the interior comes out and the floor sorted out fully.

Wanting to remove all the suspension parts etc and paint them all so he'll be sweet when done. MOT end of May so he'll be back on road 1st May for some upcoming festivals..!

Bring on the weather and plenty of camping trips... 8)

When I drop the suspension points, I was thinking of changing the rubber bushes for those poly ones.. your thoughts.. Good idea or stick with old rubber or always replace with new rubber?? :?
