I intend to use mine all winter as my daily hack. yet I have been spraying her underneath and especialy around the arches with duck oil. Also the seems, door runners, the flat bit behind the front bumper, well all over really. will be vasalining the seems later today.

Spent yesterday afternoon washing my van with traffic film remover as that was its first wash since the autum.

Pleased to say she survived the winter with no new rust showing through and is now shinning like a cats a*** in the moonlight.

That much WD40 (asda's version for 99p) had been applied weekly that it dried to plug my leaking windscreen.

Katie, an update

You generally find with these vans that it's not so much the underneath that rusts badly, but inside, that is, they rust from inside out. The box sections, inside the sills (at extreme front and back initially) inside the box (2 main crossmembers) sections and panels, and inside the main kitchen (offside) panel and wing panels.

The bottom can mostly drip and air-dry off, the inside sections can't and they do suffer badly from condensation dripping down when used as campers, people carriers etc and when not aired well internally.

Today for instance (here) is a good day for getting all the doors and windows open and letting the heat and draught give it a good drying out...

There is quite a lot in Tech and some in Wiki on dealing with internal corrosion. Seam rust is probably about as much from the inside as outside too.

Use it all year round
my bus stands outside 365, and gets used year round, slept in any time of the year
when ever there's a chance for a night out in it, it goes out

Just took my van out of hibination and its had a mouse in in it of all the things it could chew it decided to make a feast of the cab headlining it put three holes in it each the size of a fifty pence .If you intend not using for a while set some mouse traps in it(humane ones of course).
