Go with Continental Vanco's.

8 ply, plenty enough load rating, good wear characteristics and handle well enough

I agree with Simon, at that price it is very cheap, in fact with the VAT a genuine VW engine will come in slightly above that. I know the dealers don't do it, but in my garage I would have swapped the crank if everything else was OK. It gets me how many garages nowadays are full of fitters rather th...

well, for my own and passengers safety I wouldnt dream of using anything less than an 8 ply on a van.

Saw many a car tyre shredded after being used on a van when I was doing roadside assistance............it just isnt worth the risk

Just make sure you use commercial tyres, one with a 'C' in the tyre size........as a lot of car tyres haven't got adequate load ratings.

Use car tyres at your peril

How does anyone pay duty in uk and keep customs informed of WHICH oil their using? I do. I buy oil from Booker cash and carry, and they happily supplied a spec sheet for their own brand chef's larder oil. I am sure it wasn't just because over the years I have spent £1000's with them, as I have hear...

I thought veg oil could just be mixed in the tank with the normal Diesel yes it can, and used oil is even thinner so even less mixing. To be honest, my old type 2 will run on SVO without thinning it down (and yes, I am registered as a fuel producer.......did it when I worked at HMRC) so cant see th...

Oil consumption

Ever since I have had my van, which is a year now, it has been very heavy on oil..................it goes through a litre every 1000 miles. There are no leaks, it doesn't seem to be breathing heavy, I have compression tested it and everything is fine. It's a 1700 oil burner, 75K on the clock with a ...

must be the season for exhausts. Just had to buy a back box for mine (1700 diesel looks a bit easier to get off) Cost me £53 inc vat from gsf..................which is a fifth of what I paid for the van a year ago. What with starter motor bushes and a litre of oil every month its getting expensive :...

I emailed murdoch from work earlier, whilst looking at the parts list. The studs are indeed M9 on one end, M8 on the other (these krauts have some strange ideas).............unfortunatly not a VW stock item anymore and no idea where, without having a set turned up, you would get replacements BTW mur...

Remember to check the load rating of the wheels as your average van is heavier than most cars..............and idealy you should be running on 8 ply tyres

email me your VIN number to chris.pattinson@westyorkshire.vwcv.co.uk and I will check what size studs they are, and the price of genuine for you

I was surprised when I looked at how cheap some genuine parts are compared to spurious ones.........................not all though but worth a look

Ian, there used to be a good painter on Hilton Industrial Estate, up Sutton Lane.

Its a few years since I had my unit up there, but worth a look as it's only down the road (and I hear the Peddy is good in the Talbot now)

I have welded mine shut on the V8 rather than mess about. Have cut the back out to make a full length tailgate, but not got round to constructing it yet
