When I was racing regularly I used to tow an MG Midget and later a Westfield on a 4-wheel trailer behind my '82 1.9 DG camper. I've met people at the tracks using the old Aircooled jobbies but don't know how much different they would be. Mine was not the fastest thing on the road but always arrived....

There's a good description in the Wiki but I'm not sure I'd it "no real bother" ;).

Seriously, do you find that you get a "How old" sometimes when you tell them what you are insuring? Depends if you're talking about me or the vehicle ;). To insurers we come under the general heading of "motorhomes" and we're very young in that company....most seem to owned by p...

I'm even older than kthla (57) and comprehensive insurance on my '82 1.9L costs less than £150 with Footman James....but that's with 9 years no claims and a low mileage limit. Last time I did a fairly comprehensive ring round I got quotes from 150 to over 600 quid so make sure you try a good few com...

Tax is £180. Insurance depends mainly on how old you are. 10,000 miles is too many for most of the classic insurers who are often cheapest for our vehicles and lower mileages. You really need to shop around. I don't know how well the insurance referral sites like confused.com work for T25s but you c...

For cm read mm. It's not easy to imagine a T25 lowered by 2 ft (60cm) ;).

Practically about 45mm (1.5 inches) is about all you can do but it does improve the handling and the general wandering about in the wind a bit.

Interesting in parts but it seemed a long-winded way to say that if you want a leisure battery for normal leisure use your best bet is to buy the sort of battery sold as.....a leisure battery ;).

That sounds like my experience. Cellulose you must T-Cut (or equivalent) if you want a shine. Enamel (like Tekaloid) you should leave alone. The best shine is straight from the tin. If you really want to polish or otherwise fiddle with it you need to wait at least a week and preferably 3-4 weeks for...

I find that it's the huge gap between gears that gets me. On a long climb, particularly when towing, I find it's worth overreving a bit in 2nd so it doesn't bog down quite so badly when it goes into 3rd.

You asked originally about the law....frankly if someone other than you gave the guy final verbal instructions it's pretty tricky. You can't even be 100% certain what the garage were actually told wanted doing. I'd pay for the job that's been done (you should be able to negotiate a bit but the guy h...

There are a couple of places within a couple of miles of me in North Staffs so I guess they must exist all over the place. I suggest a look in Yellow Pages under "Caravan and Car Storage" or just phone a few local caravan/camper dealers, they'll know. They're not cheap though, don't you kn...

I've never got more than 60l in mine, like what the handbook says.

So was that the same garage each time ? And when were their pumps last checked ? Call me cynical but I don't think I'd want to be paying for 65l of petrol going into a 60l tank ;).

If you used Duck Tape in silver instead of gaffer tape, Eh? "Duck Tape" is a brand name for an expensive retail version of gaffer tape. Another common name for Gaffer tape is Duct tape (as in Heating and Ventilation Ducts).....so Duck tape. Gerrit ;). BTW can you get these screens to fit ...

I used to tow an MG Midget and later a Westfield SE to racetracks all over the country (and a few bits of Europe) behind my '83 1.9DG hightop camper with no problems. It'd travel faster than is legal on motorways but you did have to stir the gearbox about a bit on hills ;).

Don't know about the AA but the RAC are good lads. A few years ago they towed my high top T25 AND my old racing MG Midget on a trailer the best part of 200 miles back home for me. Can't argue with that ;).
