Tax is £180. Insurance depends mainly on how old you are. 10,000 miles is too many for most of the classic insurers who are often cheapest for our vehicles and lower mileages.
You really need to shop around. I don't know how well the insurance referral sites like confused.com work for T25s but you could always try.

Only the insurance companies could give you a good idea of how much that will cost. There are too many variables that affect your premium for anyone to give you a good idea of what it will cost you.
I have two campers insured through Adrian Flux. My 2.0 air-cooled cost about twice as much as my 2.1 Syncro, I don't know why. I also had to pay an extra £250 premium when I moved from Exeter to Birmingham.

I'm even older than kthla (57) and comprehensive insurance on my '82 1.9L costs less than £150 with Footman James....but that's with 9 years no claims and a low mileage limit.
Last time I did a fairly comprehensive ring round I got quotes from 150 to over 600 quid so make sure you try a good few companies.

In a later post in this thread you say that you have only just bought your first camper. So, I am guessing that you have used up your NCD on the Syncro & therefore you have no NCD to use on the camper. That is why the camper is costing you more to insure.

Hey stevel, thanks mate. I feel so young again. I thought I was the oldie around here. What a great idea for a thread. Who is the oldest oldie on 80-90! Seriously, do you find that you get a "How old" sometimes when you tell them what you are insuring?
Sorry, can't wait for reply, Horlicks is ready!

Depends if you're talking about me or the vehiclekthla wrote:Seriously, do you find that you get a "How old" sometimes when you tell them what you are insuring?

OTOH since my insurance is with a classic car insurer, more used to 1960s and 70s MGs etc, they sometimes have to check that they're allowed to insure vehicles as NEW as ours

Erm... I only replied the once to this thread. The Devon I've had for over a year now. The Syncro is the new addition. The reason that there is such a discrepancy between the prices is probably because I insured the Syncro in Birmingham from the start, as a new quote, whereas once they've got your business they think they may as well rinse you for all they can.
When I move back down south, to Truro, in October, they'll probably say "yes, there's a refund due of £100, but our administration fee for this is usually £110, so why don't we just call it evens and change the address for you?"
I hate insurance companies.

When we got our first camper in February this year, I went through my present insurers, RAC, and they gave me discount equal to my NCD for Fully Comp, 1 international driver and 3 points, and a limit of 6000 miles, £182, which is the same as I pay for my car. I'm not quite at the 50 mark yet, and Lloyd is over.

Got a phone call today from bloke selling camper.......has changed his mind!!!....even though he cas put the check in the bank...
No point getting wound up but have to admit.verry dissapointed......I thought it was only buyers that were time wasters not sellers.
Any way.I'm looking for a high top 1988 or newer 1.9 or 2.0l petrol in reasonable or good condition. prefer right hand drive and I live near Stroud, Glos. I'm no mechanic but i am prepared to to some work on the van.....I have cash ready and am totaly serious buyer...I've got about £3.5k to spend. Tall order I know, but if there's anyone who wants to sell without hassle, let me know.
Many thanks
Rusty

Changed mind? Put cheque in bank?
I'd be worried. Don't know full story but if, I repeat, if he is a timewaster or a con man then he should be named and shamed. Apologies if there is a genuine problem but I have been conned in a similar way before. Good luck in your search for a camper. If I see anything in this area I'll let you know although North Yorkshire may be a little far to travel to buy (but not to visit for a hol break!
).
