Truma E1800 heater not working

Hi, heater has worked in the past, but latterly only at 1/2 speed fan. Now it's not working at all - fan comes on, but no click, after 30 secs the fan switches off. Plenty of LPG in the cylinder. Where to start? Wondering where it gets its electric supply from, cos the leisure battery is probably a ...

Re: Westfalia window insect net

Thanks Aidan. This is the right handed one. I did think about mending it, but one of the lugs which hold it onto the window has broken off, which kinda makes it tricky https://drive.google.com/file/d/11qcbup ... IP3AX/view

Will try Frank's and have a look at Schofields as you suggest.

Westfalia window insect net

Hello Does anyone know where I could get hold of one of these? The grey plastic frame has insect netting and it fits over the opening window in the side sliding door. Westfalia California 1990 - thanks! https://drive.google.com/file/d/11Unj33HecKX-o0UTf7--CLOs4cOAnPx4/view?usp=sharing Thanks! Andy

Charge light on faintly at low revs

Alternator drive belt has just been changed and now the charge light on the dash comes on faintly at low revs. Belt is on tight. Changed the voltage regulator / brushes only a few miles ago. Any ideas please?

Diesel drain back?

1990 turbo diesel is taking a lot of starting when left for a few days.  No more smoke on start than usual ;).  When it starts OK after say a day, it starts with no issues, so I guess glow plugs must be OK. Wonder if fuel is draining back to the tank, what the culprit might be?

Thanks!

Re: Van stalling at low speeds, and then hard to start

When my non turbo diesel intermittently started to refuse to idle and occasionally not start I found that I had a leak at the fuel injector pump seal (the one on the shaft behind the drive sprocket). This was letting air in as well as a tiny amount of fuel seeping out. The fuel was running down beh...

Van stalling at low speeds, and then hard to start

hi all This is re a 1990 1.6TD JX. We seem to be in danger of getting stranded on holiday in Germany :( Seen a couple of other threads on here with similar symptoms and wondering whether this a problem with a lack of fuel getting to the engine. Fuel filter was replaced < 5,000km ago. Both fuel lines...

The part number matches up with an (almost) identical part number at http://www.vwbusshop.de/ - if you look under >> Artikel >> VW Bus T3 bis 1990 >> Motorteile >> Diesel/T-Diesel >> Einspritzpumpe, Leitungen, Zubehör >> Einspritzpumpe TD im Austausch But this one is only c. 300 euros, am I missi...

Just spoke to them - they changed all four glowplugs

Gonna try a bit of bio diesel in the tank - garage and others report the latest ultra-low sulphur diesel can shrink the rubber seals in the injectors, and a bit of bio diesel might sort it - I will report back...

1990 1.6TD smoky and lumpy start

hi This is a fairly recently recon'd engine, runs beautifully when warm but when cold chucks out loads of blueish smoke and doesn't seem to turn over very smoothly. Took it up my local garage, they replaced a glow plug and cleaned out the injectors. It was fine then for a couple of weeks, no smoke a...

Winter in a Westfalia poptop

hi all Thinking about a T25 Westfalia poptop - and wondering (like you do) what's it like camping in winter in one of those beauties, in particular sleeping in the roof? How good an insulator is that fabric in the pop-top? Thanks for any reminiscences... and btw I've already read the keeping warm su...

Water on the brain... leaking roof / tailgate

hello all Rain is leaking into the back of my T25 Camper which is a bit of a bind when you're trying to sleep. The van is a Bilbo conversion with a fibreglass pop-top roof on top of the original VW metal. The rain is ultimately coming in through a seam in the original VW metal roof at the top left o...
