Couple of scaffolding planks between van roof & poptop, then tip the roof onto next door's driveway, hack it up with a saw/axe/hammer (or whatever other implements you have at hand) and take it to the tip; that's what i did with mine anyway.. Salvage any useable parts first, struts, undamaged si...

Early ones were fitted with staples, later ones screwed on with a bead strip - gowesty site says the changeover date is 1984 so you might be ok?

I don't think it's even the right one for the CT though jase, part number doesn't match according to VAGCAT; might be ok for fault-finding though and rule out/prove a problem with the dizzy?

I've got a dizzy in the garage, think it came off a 1.6CT; you can have it to try if you want? Part number on it is 070 905 205 / 0237 023 005. If your going to the meet tomorrow night i can bring it with me.

I had a gallon fuel can bolted inside the front grill area with the spout lined up with the VW badge - pop the badge out at the petrol station, fill it with diesel then add some petrol to your fuel tank too, really confuses the petrol station attendants when you want to pay for petrol AND diesel.

Yes, No1 is furthest from the cab as positioned in the van, No4 is the flywheel end of the engine.

Westy - so long as you can live with LHD.

Is the autohomes pop-top the solid sided type (Kamper?) if so check the roof isn't wet under the aluminium skin.
