I have a 1600 air-cooled engine (CT code) that I've taken from my van. It has hydraulic lifters in it, one has lost its "paperclip" that holds it together.
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement clip, or if I can just use an internal circlip of the right size? I know you can get a new lifter for £15, seems a shame to have to spend that when the original one is fine apart from the clip.
Have been reading that the hydraulic lifters can be a pain to set and can lead to issues like burnt valves.
I have a spare CT engine that has solid lifters, but also some other issues which mean I can't just use the spare lump.
Does anyone know if I can swap the solid lifters from the spare engine to replace the hydraulic ones, or will the cams be different? (don't want to split the case). I know the pushrods are different, but I have those.
(Before you say ditch the CT engine and fit a T4 - would love too, but no one is going to give me a usable T4, and I don't have £100's to buy one, so I'm making do)

Cheers
