Post by mark206000 »

Hi,

how long did you leave it on for? They make no noise (except maybe the gas burning if you listen VERY carefully) but do take a long time to cool down. Leave it on for a while and feel the pipes on the back. If they are getting hot something is working.

Oh, and they MUST be level to get cool.

No they're silent and take at least an hour of operation to show any coldness - in the icebox (if it's got one) should get cold first.

Have a look at the Swift Caravan Owners Club website for a good info page on these fridges.

Oh and they must be virtually level (max 3 degs out in either plane) - it's about the circulation of the coolant...

Ah it works on the 240v, i was expecting frostbitten fingers a bit too soon I think !

See if i can get it goin on the 12v now.

Didn't think i'd have to wait an hour for it to start cooling and have to be completely flat :?

Maybe 12v cool box be better option ? Anybody use on of these ?

Cheers

Mark :)

in case you don't know, these fridges are high current consumers. You can only run them on a battery for a short time without the engine running.

As for a coolbox. It depends what you want. Remember they are COOLboxes. If you want something that's noisy, can't make ice and still eats amps at an alarming rate try it.

I know I said level but Keith is more accurate with 3 degrees. That is a slope of about 1 in 20 which is quite tolerant. Newer fridges are less critical and can work at up to 6 degrees. Try parking on that sort of slope and see if you are still comfortable in bed!

I have one of these to help me park.....
