just tried using fridge for 1st time, doesn't seem to work. Took it out and only mains was wired to it, so i plugged it in again and it doesn't seem to do anything
how long did you leave it on for? They make no noise (except maybe the gas burning if you listen VERY carefully) but do take a long time to cool down. Leave it on for a while and feel the pipes on the back. If they are getting hot something is working.
Oh, and they MUST be level to get cool.

in case you don't know, these fridges are high current consumers. You can only run them on a battery for a short time without the engine running.
As for a coolbox. It depends what you want. Remember they are COOLboxes. If you want something that's noisy, can't make ice and still eats amps at an alarming rate try it.
I know I said level but Keith is more accurate with 3 degrees. That is a slope of about 1 in 20 which is quite tolerant. Newer fridges are less critical and can work at up to 6 degrees. Try parking on that sort of slope and see if you are still comfortable in bed!
