Weber Single Carb Conversion

Post by Devon81 »

Hi
Hasanyone fitted the single Weber conversion, in place of the twin Solex carb's on a 2.0l Aircooled, as my carbs are well past their sell by date, i'm using more fuel than a Bugatti Veyron at the moment :cry: , i was just wondering what mpg anyone is getting if they have fitted these, also have they had any problems withe the conversion kit.

Hi,

Do you know what MPG you are getting? I have a 2l ac and they do like to drink when fully loaded. I get around 20MPG.

I would hate to think what that goes down to when going up hill with foot to floor

Don't bother, I had this conversion - upgraded to twin dellorto40's, best thing i ever did. I'd recommend you either get yours refurbed or upgrade.

You'll be in and out of garages trying to get the weber to run right. Add a 009 and you might as well just park it up :D

Hi everyone
Thanks for the replies, i will keep clear of the Weber conversion now, the Solex carb's are running well rough on choke at the moment, i'm only doing short runs around town etc, so the engine is not getting a chance to fully warm up, is it worth buying a service kit for the Solex's, also do they have to be set up on a rolling road.
I'm off to Birmingham on Sunday, to transport 3 teenagers to see Guns n Roses, i will let you know how much fuel i use on this run from Holland on Sea.

Once again thanks for the advise.

First off, grab hold of the spindles on the throttle flaps, if theres any up and down movement, they're worn and a refurb will be needed as well as a regasket. Steve does carb rebushing, as does Roger Ball in Clacton. Much better to refurb what you have than mess with a weber.

Contact info for Mr Ball in this WIKI page: https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Fu ... -_Pierburg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
