petrol tank

hi could anyone tell me the best way to remove and wash out petrol tank please. think its got bits in it ,keeps blocking carb.

Out of interest, what makes you think it has 'bits' in it?

Should be a fuel filter on the outlet that should capture amy "lumpy bits".. change it if it looks dirty as its prob perforated... Also you need to look at all the rubber hoses that attach to the tank and breathers as these perish and allow water and dirt in.. as does the filler neck breather and poss if it still has the steel filler neck, these rust away letting in lots of crud.. There is also a rubber coller around the top of the filler neck where the fuel cap housing attaches, this also perishes and splits..
