IMHO, if you are a little unsure about this sort of job, may be just as well to pay a man who does know what he is doing.....

I changed all mine to copper when I first got mine. It was about £55 the lot online. May have been ebay. Been a long whil, but I did do them myself. Took two days.

Re: where to buy and fitting new brake pipes
not to worried about the job itself as ive done them before on beetles and the like but really just wanted a heads up on what needs to come off (just saves using the brain that early in the morning :p )
anyways i was thinking about getting a role of the copper pipe and retro fitting it myself i have the flairing tool already but it doesnt seem to have the right die (if thats the right word) to shape it to match the hose connections is there something i can buy to do this or would it be much easier to just buy a ready made kit and shape it fit?? rather than sodding around to save £30 or £40 quid??

Re: where to buy and fitting new brake pipes
Best be prepared for things to turn really nasty if you want my advice.
The biggest problem is that you end up chasing the whole system round .... for e.g. 5 years ago now our local testing station failed The Bus on the front and rear flexys ... by the time I'd finished I'd replaced both calipers, both rear cylinders and every pipe in between including the tees and unions ... only the front/rear balance regulator came undone !
I've never had to mess with the brake system since mind ... except to grease it once a year and maintain the brakes themselves of course.

Or....
Just buy: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-pce-Metric-Fla ... 1|294%3A50" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/8MM-X-7-5MTR-SOFT ... 1|294%3A50" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; X 2 - You'll need to check diameter - may be narrower
Works out not far off what I paid for mine ready-made.

Re: where to buy and fitting new brake pipes
thanks for the replies guys im looking at getting a copper and nickol mix is it worth paying extra few pounds as they say its easier to work with and lasts longer.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brake-Pipe-3-16-C ... 7C294%3A30
also it turns out that my pipe flaring kit has the right bits but the 3/16 bit is broken
so thought about getting this from the same seller...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0054978359

Re: where to buy and fitting new brake pipes
New in.
Cheap copper, as I knwo how you lot like cheap!
Also got Kunifer coming, bought a load as thats what I use in the workshop.
Also got the pipe ends to go on soon, not cheap motor factor ones either that are a swine to start, some nice german ones that are much easier to work with, and a bit more money. They are the same shape as the factory ones.
Also, not on the site yet are 6mm straight couplings for repairing the clutch pipe.
Too much to do, so little time!
