Rear Wheel Studs

Can they be taken out and replaced insitu, just standard ones? Got a couple on mine that are goosed and don't particularly fancy taking off the that nut that holds on the rear hub if it can be done on the van.

Yes , but can be a wee bit fiddly , you have to wind them in rather than press them in , i used a spacer and a wheel nut

Any thread damage at all? The reason I ask is because I thought I'd read somewhere - by Baxter I think - that they need to be pressed in or you may damage the thread. I may give it a whirl anyway, and buy a few spares just in case. Were your old ones hard to get off?

Should really be pressed through, as pulling them in with a nut can stretch / overstress them. Saying that, many people hade done it with the nut and spacer method with no drama.

I borrowed a 3/4" drive 46mm socket and bar, a long pipe and a fat mate with big arms to undo the nut and then pressed the studs in

I pressed mine in by the use of some tube over the stud and a large copper hammer!

Were your old ones hard to get off?

nope just hit them once with a hammer and they popped out

no damage from winding them in as i can see

if your replacing all of them then take the hub off and press them in

Might save the day until you finally get that hub off to do them all... ensure the nuts are not the issue as well, once its been on a bad thread chuck it!

Wire brush and WD studs every time wheels come off is not a bad idea... I've even broken a powerbar getting wheel nuts off some T25s, ridiculous

Hi all
I have bought Ford Galaxy alloys to fit to van.
I know I need longer bolts for front wheels, but also need longer studs for back wheels.
How do I remove old studs
1 remove wheels
2 do I take drums off ?
3 or put spacer/bigger nut over stud and draw out using wheel nut ?
