Got myself an 81 westy and it has the german (obviously) 2 pin hook up on the outside, my question is what is the best way to convert this for use in the UK?
Is it easier to get hold of the matching female socket and then make up a couple of leads that can be plugged in at camp sites or at home and if so where can you get the sockets from?
Alternatively is it possible to get a replacement uk male plug that fits directly into the same size hole in the van as the 2 pin original one (don't want to have to start cutting the van)
Hi, is it a blue plug with 3 pins? if so this is what is known as a 16a cee form connector, this is generally excepted as waterproof as well. you can buy a cable from most camping shops, and 13a to 16a converter as well, this will allow you to plug in a home. For use in Europe you will also need a Shuco to 16a socket.

Grahem, the early Jokers had a different plug to what you are describing, they have a 2 pin set-up, see his original post. They had a special lead with the corresponding fitting that plugged into it. When he`s got back about it, we`ll see which way he`s gone, but the easiest way is to replace the 2 pin affair with the blue plug type, that the later ones come with. Not a big job to do.
Hi Guys. I think we have a cable at work that would plug into that. Got put into one of our cable trunks by mistake, when I was doing a gig in Germany, if you want I will have a dig round. Should I find it do you want it?
scroll down the electrical page and you`ll come to the electric hook-up boxes. there are some square ones, as well as the later type oblong ones that have the blue plug in them.
I have the correct plug you just need to buy a normal hook up cable cut the plug and replace with the correct one. £6 inc postage Pm me your details if you would like one.
