Seatbelt Question

Post by shane r »

I have a 1991 microbus. All the belts in the back are lapbelts. I need to put at least two 3 point belts back there for the kids. I've done a search on here and haven't seen any belts installations on the front bench (lots on the rock and roll). Is it possible?

Shane
just saw your post
check this site
http://volksweb.relitech.com/helmut/Rea ... FB_001.HTM

you can get 3-point belts and you take the rear panel off to fit, I have fitted one for Ines's wee ones car seat.

were still in need of another, its a standard belt with and extra metal part that lines up for fitting with the holes behind the panel
there rare but come up now and then
go to ebay germany and type in
vw t3 gurt

there is one on there now - item: 320216012852

just check you have the holes behind the panel

hope your well

Have a look at my T25 Caravelle in the garage

and here

I fitted two 3 point belts - bought them from JustKampers .. easy to fit as the nuts were already fitted to a caravelle. :D

Cheers

Hi Keet, yes, I'm well thanks!

Thanks both for posting. Both those installs look like the r&R bed no? I'm looking for ones for the bench in front of that...

There is also an anchor for the over the shoulder belt in the C pillar behind the middle seat - just feel around the material covering it and you should find a dimple where there is a threaded plastic plug fitted into the threaded captive nut. Just unscrew (Philips cross head) and screw in the bolt that anchors the belt.

Let me know how you get on!

Excellent, I'll have a look when I get home today! I'm guessing that will only be on the opposite side of the sliding door?

So is JK the best source for the belts themselves?

I think you will find one also on the same side as the sliding door ... you will just need to watch out for people tripping over it as they get into the back seats. JK are pretty good for value and fitting instructions .. you could probably find one much cheaper in a scrapyard but the problem is in the length of the belt and making sure the locking mechanism works in the right attitude (normally locks when the belt is pulled sharply upwards in a vertical direction)

Check this sale ad - might be cheaper for you!

Hope this helps :D
