URGENT assistance required

Having had our 1981 2.0l Aircooled camper restored the man who is carrying out the work has run into an issue with the sliding door.
It does not lock - from the outside or inside.
I am a numpty with all this (but learning fast). He says that the latch mechanism seems to work with two 'latches' but is only latching over once, not twice.
I would be everso grateful if someone can direct me to thread where the latching mechanism is discussed in detail or if anyone can offer any guidance as to why the door will not lock.

I presume you are talking about the rear latch yes it only latches over once. More likely the rod needs adjusting between the front and rear locks.

Trouble is it is noting like an early latch.
