I get my seals from JK as individuals not from a set, never had a leaker yet. I put a little vasaline on on the seals to prevent breakage when refitting.

Genuine VW seals are the only way to go IMH opinion.

It sounds like you've used JK seals in the past?

Smear the HYlomar around the seals once they are on the tubes, making sure the housings are spotless, use a tight piece of broom shank as a handle and twist the tubes ever so slightly as you push them in.

Make sure the tubes are lined up with the housings at all times during the insertion process.

Take your time and don't be frightened to apply a bit of pressure.

Check the 'O' ring locating surface on the tubes for excessive wear or any imperfections before you start.

Retention spring?

Just a thought but you have got the weird shaped springs that hold the tubes in place present and correctly fitted haven't you??

Some engines have had them left out (mine was like this) but VW would not have bothered fitting them if they were unnecessary.
