Early stainless steel exhaust from JK

Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone has had any joy fitting one of these to an early 1.9DG http://www.justkampers.com/t25-stainles ... -2100.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
JK reckon they are doable with a couple of extra brackets (available from JK) but I will also need two other bits (2nd hand) which hold the brackets to the engine block. Does anyone know what these are?

you have to replace this bit with the later type with lugs to hold the exhaust saddles
you can see on the second pic the lugs

Now considering a visit to Cardiff for a Pro-Speed stainless. Heard some good things about them so maybe worth the trip.

I fitted one of those on a van I recently sold, agreed it was/is good (and cheaper) - though a tad noisier.

Just booked it in with Charlie at Pro-Speed in Cardiff. Heard the Speedshop ones can be a tad noisier. Had a good chat with Charlie - defo knows his stuff - good price too I reckon.

Sorry for jumping in on this thread but i'm looking at the same thing!

Need to replace the whole exhaust on my 1990 1.9 petrol, it has just had a TES recon engine fitted.

Not sure whether to go for the Just Kampers Stainless steel one or the VW Speed shop alternative which is almost £100 cheaper!

Anyone prepared to offer a novice some advice please!!?

£580 fitted itchyfeet. Pretty good I reckon if you consider it could be a pig to fit. Also yes I do need a late engine mount for it - looking out for one at the mo.
Lennsuey - there's loads of stuff on the forums re: speed shop & JK exhausts. Do a search & have a good read.

@lennsuey, the VW speedshop one is great, works well, looks good and is a well designed system (all headers same length etc) but it is a bit noisier than most. Not "boy racer" loud, but might be better suited to a "cool surf bus" rather than a fully "campered" high top, that is how I think of it.

I have a Bluebird SS twin tip on my "slightly cool" tin-top and am VERY VERY happy with it. It fits onto the std early type J tubes, looks dead good, is not at all loud, but does have a slightly deeper grumble than std early system. It wasn't cheap though at £350 for just the silencer (my J tubes where/are in good nick) but I do really like it. iirc VW-heritage still stock them. I know, you want a pic, not to self, take a pic tomorrow

Ours is a more traditional type bus i guess, so perhaps i should stick to the JK's one! Been quoted around £620 fully fitted as we can't do it ourselves, it's just a bit painful after shedding out for a recon engine last year, new window seals and fixing a leaky high top roof!! Happy days!!

Blooming heck john, there's something I haven't heard in a while, the word 'dead' as an alternative to very, really, etc. I've worked around the Malpas area but I'm from over the border, Buckley and I believe it's more of a taffy expression (although a lot of scousers use it too - probably nicked!). I may be wrong.

Is there a reason why nobody makes an 'early' stainless exhaust?

I guess there are just too few of them around to make it commercially viable.
