Power steering

Post by B.J »

Hi,
The wife has expressed an interest in driving the van so I was thinking that it's time to put in some Power assisted steering.
I've read lots of posts on the various options but I'm still not sure which is best so I'm appealing to your vast knowledge on syncro's
http://www.ultimate-engineering.co.uk/p ... ering.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This one seems straight forward but I've heard there are insurance issues with this method.
Using Corsa parts? Are there any problems with this?
OEM PAS. What exactly will I need for this and roughly what would it cost?
My van is rhd syncro transporter with an AAZ

Danke :ok

I have a NOS power steering rack which is surplus to requirements. I also have a spare reservoir and steering shaft.

You need ....

Rack
Track rods and boots
Steering link shaft
Front to rear hoses
Reservoir
hose 251 422 893c

Original set up

Original set up but useing 106 or saxo electric / hydrolic pump

Eps.

Nothing wrong with any set up. I prefer eps especially on a Syncro as there's nothing under the van to snag up or corrode and its probably the cheapest option.

Some people don't like eps. They can tell you why themselves.

If you want an eps system let me know as we have the jigs to make lhd and rhd sets.

Great, options, that's what I like,
Syncropaddy, you have
Rack
Steering link shaft
Reservoir

So I need to find the below
Track rods and boots
Front to rear hoses
hose 251 422 893c

Please pm me with prices

Lee,
Does your eps protrude out of the steering collum like the ultimate engineering one and have you had issues with insurance?

Cheers

Me mate had a set up installed by a chap in western super mare.

Cost £400 all in fitted, electric (corsa i think) speed sensor off rear CV joint. IMHO the electric feels better than factory PAS.

It feels loads better than factory. Be interested to have feed back from Syncro owners running big wheels who have used the speed sensors designed for small non Syncro wheels and how the pick ups faired in the mud off road.

The speed sensor is towards the top of the drive shaft gearbox end so should not be a problem.

I was hoping to fit electric steering and was waiting on RJES to complete his system but last time I spoke to him he seems to have given it up?
