I have received a promising response, so I'll box up a DJ engine harness, a couple of idle valves and the two duff controllers and see what they make of it all.
I'm still keeping my eye out. I'm certain I wouldn't have binned it and both my 2.1s were running fine when removed.
I found lots of bits of harness in a box the other day so I'm getting warmer I think.

Yes thats the early suffix A, there's a cap on the other board that has also had a blurt. Strangely the suff C I had been using shows no signs of component distress or dry joints but it won't drive the idle valve either.
Might be that the transistors have failed.
Suff A and C have quite different board layouts and component count, but do the same job (as do suff B and D for the MV with Digifant)

i was chatting with copilot about this, and a full re-engineer with just a modern microcontroller and as few simple components could replace all the analog components. it seemed to have a fair idea of what was needed, what inputs are provided and the PWM drive for the ISCV.
