But what determines lifespan?
Living by the coast probably doesnt help.
The little white box on left engine wall (idle stabiliser?) was remove two years ago and the two three pin leads are permanently connected. That solved erractic idling and a few unexpected engine cut outs.
Also my camper is set to run on 95 ron fuel and not 98. Cant see that doing any harm as timing is set sccordingly?

One of lifes great mysteries I think
Such as....why did l sell that carb?
Because I really appreciate having it on my 2.1 MV
1985 hi-top 2.1MV with DG carb and LPG
1955 trials buggy with 1.9 DG high lift cam and twin dell's (now sold)
1972 1303 beetle
1992 Audi 100 2.8 quattro estate
1967 Vw Madison kit
FWIW I was testing a freshly built DJ the other day and it took 3 ecu's to get it running. One wouldn't run the fuel pump, one pumped so much fuel in it made the plugs instantly wet. The third worked ok.
They can fail.
1985 Oettinger 3.2 Caravelle RHD syncro twin slider. SA Microbus bumpers, duplex winch system, ARC 7X15 period alloys
Are these ECU rebuildable? And is it economical to do?
I will contact the auto electrician l called during breakdown (he was on holiday at the time, yet happy to take three twenty minutes calls from me...what a good fella!) and ask if he knows someone. Pete was spot on with his long-distance diagnosis.

don't want to confuse the post, please transfer this if you wish, but has anyone used the Digifant system on a DJ? Pro's, con's and don't be silly thoughts.

Yes. Works fine - maybe not quite as powerful but a little more economical. Digifant is closed loop so will (to an extent) regulate fuelling accordingly. Make sure your lambda probe is good or it'll still run on the default fuelling map.

Thank you Andrew, I have a DJ to build at some point for my next trials car and have all the MV injection kit. May use that instead of twin Dellortos
