Thanks for the pics MGP.
I did some wiring on mine today.
The wire that comes with the kit isn't as good quality as I first though, it doesn't solder well.
I still need to extend the passengers side as it's a bit short.
The drivers side is done though, here's the actuator in place, it's a bit tight for space in there and awkward to tighten the rod clamps.

I know you initially thought the loom may have had an upgrade but I'd be really tempted to replace the lot.
It looks ok at first but within a few months mine started failing. Was a right PITA as everytime it fails you have to strip a door down & trace the break. After the about the third time I ended up replacing the lot with decent stuff & it's been fine ever since.

Did you get a new connector too Capt'n?
or did you splice the new wire into the old?
It shouldn't be too hard to identify the connector and I might even have the right crimp tool at work.

I just spliced the old with new. I think it's the hot/cold extremes that creates the problem. Get a few hot days & the inside of the door is like an oven when the sun's on it. The cheapo insulation becomes brittle & breaks. If it's a pain to replace you could maybe try some extra insulation on the existing loom. I've only ever had it fail in the door & not from the unit to the door - that's why I think it's heat related.

Cheers Capt'n.
I have run the loom in plastic sleeving so that might help.

Most Chinese exports have subsidised postage which makes them far cheaper to buy than European equivalents. Nearly everything I've bought from the Far East has been free postage. If you've sent even a small parcel across the UK, you'll understand why postage costs are so high on goods bought in this part of the world. Until we adopt a similar scheme, we're never going to compete. Everytime parcel companies increase charges, the economy takes a hit.

Finally got mine started. Just need to wire it into the dash loom.
The connectors look awful on the door, but I can live with it.
Attaching the actuator is cake, once the lock is out. 1 small hole to drill in the piece the key moves, to allow you to thread a rod into it.

Sounds like a good way to do it, mine is low priority at the moment, having to make the best use of what little good weather we get.
