Extension gearstick

Post by 69gp225 »

Hello,

I have an 84 5 speed t25 1.9DG. I ordered the extension as I found it a little to far for me to reach. Only noticed yesterday there are two sizes. M12 & M14. I heard they changed to M14 in 85 but strangely enough to my 84 seems to fit the M14 if my wife is correct (I'm away) would have thought it would have been an M12?

The extension comes with a nut?
Does this nut go between the original gearstick and the extension I'm not sure?
The other thing is the wife says it does not bend to the rear of the van but sideways?
Do I space out with a washer so it points the right way?

Thanks lee

There was a crossover year so maybe that's why you have a 14mm stick.

Put the nut on first, screw the extension on and get it pointing the way you want then unscrew the nut so it meets the extension and locks it in place.

Screw the nut onto the gear-lever then screw the extension onto the gear-lever,position the extension where you want it and tighten the nut against the extension ( to stop it moving about!)
I dont think, so I'm not[do I exist?]
