coolant led

hi all again ,it seems my coolant led had stopped working but temperature gauge is working ok ,any ideas would be very helpfull thanks in advance ,,,,Danny

When you say it's not working, do you mean at all?
It should self test when the ignition is first switched on?
Is it not doing that either ?

If that is the case I would be looking actually at the dash itself .
If it is self testing, then it's a case of disconnecting the sender on the header tank , it should force it to come on

hi its not working at all,it does not self test or come on whhen i disconect at the sensor ,could it be relay /brain no 43 cooling system relay ??

Check the connection plug to dash - could be dry joint or broken connection.

have plugged in old set of clocks and works ok on them could it b the led in the gauge itself,new rev counter dial set up ??

Check you have continuity between the smaller of the three connections to the temp gauge and pin 3 (ground) of the 14-way connector. If that is OK then gauge is suspect.

LEDs don't last forever either. They're not too bad to change if it has failed and cheap enough online. Unlikely its gone, but not impossible.

What do you mean by 'new rev counter set up'?

The coolant gauge has 3 connections; 10 volts, Gnd, and Sensor input
The gauge needle only needs 10 volts and sensor input to work; the LED needs the Gnd to work too - so that has to be the main suspect?

Just popped in to say that if you do change the LED, they only work one way round. If you put it in the wrong way, it won't work, it won't get damaged, it just won't light up.
