Diesel fuel leak

I have been smelling diesel for a short while now, not that it's become a habit or anything!
No, after any type of run, short or long I could smell unburnt fuel, especially when reversing but prominent when standing still.
I thought initially it was #2 injector as there was fuel in the well there, however, that fuel is coming from the lever mech that connects to the LDA?
No leak until the LDA lever operates, then it appears to be coming from the centre spindle.
Is it just a matter of tightening the nut or is it going to be more involved with seals and all sorts?


In this image it's just above (forward) of the throttle lever.

ITV on Monday so really would like this sorted prior to that.

I seem to remember someone talking about an 'O' ring seal that can be replaced..I have no first hand knowledge of this just remembering something posted on here.
The most common cause are perished 'leak off' return pipes (the short sections between injectors).

Right, I'll have a search for that.
Definitely not the leak off pipes, they have all been replaced and having had that in the past was the first thing I thought but no they are all dry.

Hi Jon,the "blue" seal has gone! As a temporary measure put a thin washer on top of the seal.

I take it that means I have to undo that complete assembly to get the washer on top?
Where do I get the blue seal from Barry?

Aah, not to worry, did a bit of reading on here and about the VE pumps!
Somebody had already fit a second washer there so took that off and fitted a slightly thicker fibre washer, seems to have done the trick, well not leaking when you rev up with no load anyway, it was before.
Now it's only the sump plug to worry about, that's on another thread.

Oh and brickwerks sell the blue seals so there will be an order placed very shortly!

Just the 10 mill nut,then lift the little plate off the bolt(the bolt has two flats on it) make sure the bolt doesn't drop into the pump!
Brickwerks has the blue seal.
Take photos as you disassemble.
