Thought would give an update on this thread; lots happened in the last 11 months (moved house, now live in a yurt! vans been on the back burner for quite a while)

Am chasing down the ignition coil from scratch having replaced the tci.

I know its not ideal but would one of the various sites like vwheritage have the right part (didnt have much luck with breakers last year before having to move house on short notice, hence the thread went dead)

Also hello everyone, I hope the last 11 months has treated you, and your vans, well!

Right then

am going to ignore the yurt jokes... for now :)

Got her running nice & fine, managed a 550 mile round trip last weekend to go to green gathering in Wales.

Encountered some issues but the one that has me stumped is how do you repair/replace the tips on the front gear shift rod. Itchyfeet mentions a DIY repair is possible in his very useful article (picture of part https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/images/Fourspeedp7.jpg, from the article https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ge ... hanism_Pt1)

We have found, as the article suspects, the reverse gate side tip is heavily worn. Although we can get reverse, we cannot find 1st or 2nd reliably. (3rd & 4th are no problem). Thus the question over the DIY repair.

We have some other issues I am working on, like replacing the hydraulic fluid pipe at gear box end running from the metal pipe to the slave cylinder, checking gearbox oil tomorrow (need to fashion an adapter with 17mm af).

If anyone wants to know what eventually we had to replace on the t25 to get her running it was; TCI, ignition coil (due to external corrosion), dizzy cap due to carbon bussel & spring missing, alternator - really had bad luck with that)

Can always make a new thread if you guys like?

Also hopefully will be able to get her to Dubs In't Dales so can deliver on the beer
