Realistically how much can you fit in? I believe the bike racks are only meant to carry 50kg, what's the box on it's own weigh?

The box itself is 12kg which leaves just shy of 40kg. The stuff I will be putting in it are the collapsible lightweight outdoor chairs, foot stools, table and buckets. Also the leveling chocks and the fiamma awning tie down strap. There is a big sticker telling you the weight limit, but this is also on the bike rack so they have developed it to be realistic. However just out of curiosity I am going to weigh it once loaded.

Just for reference.
For all of those that may be wondering just what you can fit in this box. Here is a photo. Not wanting to go over the bike racks 50kg limit I have done my sums.

2x Royal Commando Luxury chairs, foot stool and drinks attachment - 12kg

Utility/toilet tent 3.5kg

Collapsible bbq - 2kg

Bag full of bungees tent pegs and hammer 1.5kg

Fiamma awning strap - 1kg

Collapsible Bucket and bowl - 1kg.

Waterproof Matt - 0.5kg

This is a total of 34kg including the weight of the box.

We can also accommodate the external single ring gas stove and two birth pop up tent.

We did a lot of camping in a tent before we bought the van. My wife wanted everything in 'Outwell Green' back then. Unfortunately the only chairs we could get in that colour were cheap and kept breaking. So the decision was made to just find and buy a pair of seats that didn't keep falling to bits. The ones that we bought were the red ones pictured. At that stage a campervan was not even a consideration but as it transpired they match. Some might say that I bought the van to match the chairs :P

Cheers, very helpful, think I'm going to be on the lookout for a cheap box locally, no rush as the bag worked OK but would like something a little more secure, bit concerned about parking up with stuff just in a zipped bag.

Although have left it fine with stuff on the roof rack previously.

Rob,
The box on the back is proving very useful. The more I use it the more it seems to make sense :D (Just in case you need any reason to convince yourself)

Have you thought about something like these aluminium storage boxes. We us them at work and i think they look really good. There's also a range of sizes and types.

External dimensions: L 900 x W 490 x H 380 mm

Ebay has 140 litre ones for £100

Not really a fan Andy and I think it looks a little out of place on the back of your nice Atlantic. The film 'Bugs Life' springs to mind. Certainly looks functional though... :ok
