Hello all, brand new member here and my first post is a technical query, how many times has that happened!. I'm hoping that someone here will be able to point me in the direction of a previous post or inter-web answer to my issue.
I have a 1984 1.9 water-cooled petrol T25 camper in which the oil warning light has developed a dull red glow, it's only noticeable at night and blinks in sympathy with the left turn indicator. It's been like it for a while and has disappeared on several occasions, only to return a day or two later. Seeing as the engine hasn't seized, I'm kinda assuming it's an electrical issue rather than oil pump related, but as a newbie to VW's I'm happy to be corrected/or given any advice that will help rid me of this worrying development.
Thanks for your time. Matt

Mine did that few years back , turned out to be the oil pressure switch , easy swap for a new one from brickwerks.
If in doubt check your oil pressure

mine is an 84 1.9 wbx also and i cured it by replacing my oil pressure switch with this one (i think - was a while ago)

you need to check what oil switches you have on yours. Some have 2 (high and low) but mine and others only have one.

Most likely a track in the instrument cluster is not making good contact - I have had the same glowing of two lights on my dash for years but haven't bothered with sorting it! Earth problem is the likeliest which may be cured by wriggling the power connector block to the instrument pcb and/or cleaning the contacts.
Highly likely as you are getting variation in intensity with the turn tell-tale indication light.

Thanks for the replies guys, looks like I've got a bit of reading and tentative wire wiggling to look forward to this weekend. Matt

That was my first thought along with bad earths but didn't post it because I haven't seen this myself.

I've just been out in the dark - I have the indicator and the high beam tell tale lights glowing. It is acting like an earth fault on the pcb.
