Re: hero gopro
I am looking at getting one of the cheap ( relatively ) GO PRO's , I have used the Hero 4 black edition in the past and found it amazing, the file sizes get huge though... and you do need a beefy computer to E D I T them or else it literally takes hours !
This is a quick video E D I T that I did of us leaving a campsite this summer... I had the whole journey home looking back at the van and the journey down following the van.
It had to be compressed alot to allow FB to host it, but the original is broadcast TV quality.
Here is the link to it on FB , not entirely sure if it will work !

Re: hero gopro
Thanks Smosh, the camp site is Eweleaze in Dorset .http://www.eweleaze.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Highly recommended, although it gets booked up very quickly as its only open for 28 days a year. Ive been a few times and its starting to suffer because of its popularity, Its mainly tents as only small camper vans allowed ( this is due to the rather steep entrance track ) and some people have no concept of personal space when putting their tent so close to yours that the guy ropes cross
I have been doing some research and the GOPRO Hero doesnt have either of the functions that would make a good car PVR dash cam... no auto power on record function, and the ability to overwrite automatically... however the SJ4000 does , and is cheaper to buy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SW01-SJCAM-Or ... 2593721597" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As far as I have seen , the GOPRO is a better action camera... but its quite close

Re: hero gopro
One of the majot benifits of gopro style is all the cheap knock off mounts you can buy. For example i just bought this:

Re: hero gopro
how the hell do they make stuff so cheap?,that SJ4000 looks quite good just as a dash cam,I have a camera from Maplins at the moment but was thinking of putting that in my work van and fitting something different in my camper

watch for slightly cheaper copies of the already cheap GoPro copy - if it isnt an SJCAM branded one its a copy...will save a few pounds but not really worth it apparently...theres also UK shippers for just a few £'s extra as suppliers realise having a UK distribution centre makes sense for the Europe market

Not sure about that but it is my understanding that you do need a CAA permit for filming from a flying device unless it is totally within your own private property.
I tried to find someone to survey an inaccessible roof for me but they couldn't because of being near a main road and with private houses immediately adjacent. It seems it is all to do with people's privacy. Would you want the media hovering over your garden and looking in your windows?

Re: hero gopro
From what I know because there is a chance I’ll be perusing this a career
is that you need a licence to use an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) commercially where you have to confirm to rules about flying in built up areas, near public highways etc. etc. If you are flying as a hobby you can record as much video take as many pictures as you like but if you are seen to be flying "irresponsibly" it’s a big no no. Apart from anything else other hobbyist will shoot you down (metaphorically speaking) because we are all worried to death that a fool is going to ruin it for the rest of us. A lot of people us POV (point of view) cameras with goggles to enable them to see from the point of view of the aircraft. This is technically illegal because the aviation authority stipulated you must have an uninterrupted line of sight of your vehicle. Using goggles interrupts your view of the vehicle.
But in terms of a licence it’s recommended you get insurance but you don’t need it unless flying with a club. You can record video and take pictures as long as you are being responsible if someone then says "you were filming me I’m not happy" then I believe you are obliged to delete the footage but I’m not too sure. The majority of people will come up to you and be amazed however I have seen a few videos from another country (no mentioning its name
) where people have got crazy violent with people flying quads. Accusing them of "spying".
Regards
Rob
