sliding door catch won't close
T25. My sliding door will not stay shut when I close it sometimes. The catch is on the rear side of the door and should engage in a pin fixed to the rear edge of the door frame. When I use a screwdriver to simulate the pin and push it into the catch then I can repeat the problem while seeing what is going on with the catch. Sometimes the catch will not close around the screwdriver. Could this simply be a lubrication problem because it is difficult to get grease round the back of the catch, or are these parts known to fail? Please.

Re: sliding door catch won't close
I used to get this problem in the colder months and found it worked better if I cleaned out all the grease and just oiled it. I'm not sure how true this is but the theory goes that in colder temperatures the grease slows down the movement of the catch so it doesn't grab quickly enough. If you look in the WIKI there are references to the catch opening up significantly (due to repeated slamming) and theres also the possibility that the pin simply needs moving a fraction.

Re: sliding door catch won't close
I have done as you suggested (thanks for that) but squirted mountain bike chain lube down the sides of the latch and I have repositioned the striker post. Seems to work fine on the gentlest of closes now but can't guarantee this will endure.

This is how I stopped mine from coming open, may be worthwhile tacking it of and giving it a good clean and check over . They do get worn and bent.
