Thanks for all the advice, have brought a BMW E30 servo and found someone to install, will see how they perform after that's done. I had already fitted new black diamond grooved and vented disc with new pads but wasn't that impressed with the standard size. The "EPYTEC.DE stuff looks real good and if you go for the ATE 57 Audi stuff the calipers and disc are pretty cheap. :ok

yep. Its really good stuff and only takes a few days delivery. I got a set of those ate 57 calipers of ebay for £25 with good pads,just painted them up and put them on.
1990 twin slider transporter. Subaru 5 speed trans. 3.3 svx subaru motor(it scares me!)

Also found a pair of ATE 57 calipers for £30 on ebay, did check with the guy regarding serial numbers but he couldn't find any. Hers want he said:

Had a good look and cannot find a part number anything like the ones you have given me, sorry.
As an example the driver side is marked ATE, 57, 965, 040/5, VL - in various places.
They came off a '96 A4 with the 1.8 20V ADR engine.

Does anyone know if ATE 57 calipers are all the same or different on each Audi model???????????

Any help would be great.

Rear discs and 14" wheels? Couldn't be done with the parts I had available. The problem is that the rear hub and swingarm is so massive, so you can't get the caliper closer to the axle without the caliper fouling as the pads wer down. 15" is the smallest size that you can get over any disc/caliper combination. I used Sharan parts because they are cheap, plentiful (taxis) and come from an 1800kg+ MPV, so the mass/performance is safely within what most T3 will acheive, unless you are a Porsche powered mentalist. In which case you should have Porsche brakes and then some.

I'm running 16" wheels with a EJ25 engine conversion, bags of power and a lot more than its use to so after greatly improving the braking system. Looking at a few different options and whilst the Porsche route is where I'd like to go the price of a decent pair of calipers is pretty high. Audi looks ok but not sure weather the ATE 57 single piston caliper is going to be enough. Unfortunately I've not driven a T3 with either conversion so a bit blind to what one to go for. :(

ATE 57 is the Sharan caliper. Stops our one just fine and iirc all had same brakes bar the VR6. Everything needs adaptors to fit.
Remember that its all about basic physics and losing heat.
Kinetic energy = mass x velocity squared.
So unless you are making a significant increase in your max velocity, the gvw isnt much different so why build for massive heat dissipation in the brakes?
Our SA was c.2300kg on holiday and we got to the Tyrol. Never ran out of brakes once.

ATE 57 also used on A6 2.5TDI and that is another heavy old lump. You should fit the BMW servo to realise the full potential of these upgrades.

True. I only had to squeeze the pedal hard a couple of times due to autobahn tw@ts. Big servo would have helped to work the 258mm x22 SA vented/F0rd caliper combo.

Just picked up my truck after having the BMW E30 Servo and Porsche 994 Master Cylinder installed, OMG what a difference, actually feels like a modern car with very little pedal pressure required. I had already upgraded the the disc and pads a few months ago with the Brickwerks Black Diamond Grooved and Vented ones but didn't really notice a huge difference, not sure weather to bother going for Audi/Porsche as braking has vastly improved :ok
