I have recently acquired a 1981 2.0l air-cooled T3. I have previously owned a couple of 2.0l T2s (now eyewateringly expensive).
The engine seal on mine doesn't go all the way round. It appears to be in good condition but there's an 18" - 22" missing section at the rear.
It also has a rubber seal attached only to the engine side of the tinware. The bay windows I used to have had a foam seal that connected to both sides.
Replacing the seal is no big issue but I've just seen the price! £90 for a T3 seal (on backorder) but only £22 for a T2.
So, the question is can a T2 seal be made to fit a T3? Perhaps jointly with the existing seal.
Or does anyone know of a cheaper supplier?
