Thanks for the link its let me know what im up against.i do have a different cooler on it now and it will go for a while does this mean the gearbox is trashed or do i keep draining the transmission fluid untill all the water is out of the system?

Yes has a little oil in it.i have now accepted i need a new gearbox but having major probs finding one .really annoyed as only replaced it 3 weeks ago due to no reverse gear so now v deep in my pockets trying to find a box for her.

The problem was that when the cooler did fail, it failed internally. When this happened, it allowed the two fluids (ATF and coolant) to mix. So, the transmission would be filled with coolant, and the cooling system got contaminated with ATF. The result is a ruined transmission ($2500) and a ruined cooling system ($3500

Just so you know,Jed and al's company campervanculture.com are sole importers of gowesty products, should you wish to order anything from them.I would consider changing to a gowesty ATF cooler, they are not cheap, but a darn sight cheaper than a new gearbox/engine.
