I was thinking it might be over fueling, so maybe choke issue... any suggestions how I can resolve this or what else it may be?

Do you know how to check that the choke flap is opening correctly as the engine arms up ? (first thing to check).
ie, cold engine, remove the "pancake" (3 nuts) on top of the carb and look at the (closed) brass choke flap at the top of the barrel nearest to you. It should be closed (well "look" closed, actually is supposed to have a 3mm gap iirc). Then fire up the engine and over up to 10 minutes observe that flap. It should be fully open after about 5 to 8 minutes. If it does not do that, report back and someone (Kev) will be along with words of wisdom.
