Exhaust

Post by davidvincent »

Hi all

So I was wondering if anyone knew of any options regarding an exhaust system upgrade?

It's a 2.0l CU engine.

The heat exchangers are almost rusted out too, so was thinking about taking the plunge and replacing the lot, but I can't seem to find a great deal of options with the usual retailers other than the standard... think the last silencer I got was from GSF and it hasn't lasted well at all, at all. They seem to be the same as B&B and JK, Heritage has a bigger price tag but I'm unsure if the quality is any different - anyone tried those?

If you have any tips on a good alternative I'd love to hear about it, equally if the best route is the traditional then that's fine but if you know where the better quality kits are that'd be really helpful - thanks.

I recently bought 2 new heat exchangers from Brickwerks, with the club discount they were the cheapest. Only time will tell if they are any good. At the moment I have heat in the van which is a bonus and exchausts that do not blow, so im happy. Total cost for 2 heat excahngers, 4 cylinder gaskets and 2 exhaust gaskets was £402.90 this included P&P and the discount.

Hi John - thanks for this, that seems like a definite option!

If you have a propex onboard (ideal for an Aircooled), you could swap heat exchangers for some kind of J pipes and make up a halfbreed (see custom exhausts in the WIKI). My silencer now costs just £25 to replace if it goes. Its an alternative to stainless anyway. https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Exhausts_Custom" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thank you for this, alas I rely on the stock heating only - looks very interesting though, what you've done.
