how easy to take the head off 1.6 jx ?

how easy to take the head off 1.6 jx ?

hi again.

as above. as i had a cam belt go on me in another post, i will be trying to save some money. local enginering company said if i could bring it to them they will see what needs doing.

could not see to much in the bently.

is it just a case of rocker cover of & 10 head bolts? or is there more?

It's really very easy

Post some pics when it's off. Don't bother buying the pump timing stuff yet, if you don't mess with the pump you can just put it back together

aye you only need a plate to lock the cam at the rear(g box end)
and you can make a tool to hold the cam sprocket whilst tightening its nut, as said dont touch the pump and you will be fine

where & how does the cam belt cover back plate come out? cant see jack in the manual or if it needs to come out.

Hi, I didnt take the cambelt rear plate off, there were a seemingly neverending series of half hidden bolts. I just bent the plate to one side a bit so that I could get the head off and out. Bending the plate allowed me to lift the head without the front protruding end of the camshaft fouling the plate itself. The only tough bit of the job was undoing the spline head bolts that secure the exhaust pipe to the manifold. I bought a spline socket to fit, size 12, and used my little 12volt wheel nut impact wrench to undo and do them back up.
