Side Panel Westy Welding Worries

Post by Jayjaysee »

Afternoon all!

I'm getting a bit of patching up done on my van. I bought it late summer and is the first campervan that I've owned. Had a few trips in it so far and it's all good :D

It's going in for lots of little bit of patching but one of the main bits is this from Schofields:
http://www.alanhschofield.com/ourparts/ ... 09559.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ideally (mainly because i don't know much about campers yet!) i don't want to have to dismantle the fridge unit and the surrounding interior before the welding. The question is, is that possible? The other 'slight' fly in the ointment here is that I have the lpg tank option which is situated near to that panel on the underside of the van. I'm also concerned that there may be insulation that could need removing

Does anyone know of any shortcuts to get this panel attached without blowing up my mate Sid

Dreading your replies

the top link is how it should be done, the bottom is ....................................
you know the answer anyway so stip it out and fit a new sill inner closures and get a lower side panal ,if you fit the over panal then whilst it will cover the hole up it is easier and quicker burt you still need to get the interior out, heres a link to a couple

Strip the inside out and bin all that soggy loft insulation. Take the tank off easy enough to remove.

When I did this job or at least some of it I fitted quick release cable connectors to all the electrical cables so that in the future it would be easy to remove if needed and not put me off.....most job's that require a bit of work are better tackled than left, speaking from some experience of bodgery. Its certainly not a job that can be safely done with stuff in place.
