exhaust silencer adaptor ?? Wbx 1.9 85 to 1983

Post by bobswais »

Hi my first post here as a newbie! Hi to everyone :)
Can you fit a later model exhaust for a wbx 1.9 petrol to a earlier model Wbx 1.9 petrol.

I thought there might be a adaptor kit or something like that ? The exhaust silencer on the van has 2 port inlets on the side and is rotten, the spare I have is for a later model onwards with only one enter point on the end straight through. Any standard kits out there or just buy a new silencer?? Hope the above makes sense.!

Cheers for advices

If the rest of the pipes are ok it would be cheaper to buy the right early silencer than to buy the later pipes to fit a late silencer

You can fit the later exhaust to an early van but need a differerent engine mount part and silencer brackets also so it gets expensive

id stick the later silencer in the for sale section and buy an early one

Just get an earlier silencer they last 6-7 years and they run smoother with the earlier system, but are noisier in a rather nice way.

Many thanks for the tips , a early silencer it will be then! The second thought was going to try and get creative with the empi twin pack for the 2000cc air cooled as it looked better with the chrome tips from jk.

Some of the pipes looking a little tatty but they will live a little longer. I like a bit of noise so original replacement it sounds best.

Again thanks for advices..

Or you could try this but you'll still have to shave a little from rear valance. Pulls better than a stock silencer and lasts longer than a tin-can EMPI and boxes are way cheaper to change/replace. Not for everyone though.

I've got one going dirt cheap (£10 + postage)
Unless you still want it CovKid? It's still in the shed, maybe I could drop it off at a Pikey sometime in 2014?
Are we going on anything else?
