throughout the rev rang it was causing a harmonic imbalance, binned it for a stock one and made 4bhp!!

Its all a learning curve Kev!!

My first van was a very steep and expensive learning curve!!!

Nope! Stock box flows well to 100 bhp or so.

Ditch the power robbing heat exchangers if you want more grunt

See turbo Thomas for replacement j tubes.

North of that for the late-style watercooled system. 112bhp from the factory from DJs.

Good ppint, i should clarify We're talking early systems here as the empi only fits Aircooled or pre 85 systems.

Personally I was talking air cooled where my dyno experience with these empi piles of poo lay!
