Rain leakages

Aight guys, i'm fairly new to T25 ownership and my 1.9l 1983 hi top seems to have a rather dire interior leaking problem. Whenever it rains, not only does a puddle form in the driver's footwell, rain also manages to find its way in next to the cupboard and somehow soaks the interior trim panel opposite causing mould/moss to form. I was wondering if it was a gutter sealent problem or something to do with the exterior trim :s any advice would be most appreciated

Water in the cab footwell is most commonly let in by the windscreen. Another less common way in is windscreen washer seals. Link to article in the club 'wiki' below:

Can you elaborate? Not sure where exactly you mean. What conversion your camper is might help too.

There's no specific conversion, part bodged/part professional job
The leaking comes from near the top two corners of the tailgate, i'll upload some pics in a bit mate

Here's a pic of the extent of the leaking, that dark stain is algae/moss. This is the right hand side of the tailgate, on the sliding door side and its pretty much the same on the opposite panel :'(

So it's somewhere gutter height or above.

Make sure any skylights and roof windows are properly sealed. Make sure the sealant in the gutters is good.

How's the top lined and insulated? Not only will that affect the amount of condensation, but it'll also affect how easy it is for you to have a good look at just how rotten the steel is...

Cheers for the tips, matey. I'll have a dig about in the insulation and see what's happening- hopefully i can trace these illusive leaks

Yeah you need to check the state of the roof either by removing all the lining or looking behind the high top.

Incidentally, where water runs out is not necessarily the same place it's getting in, worth remembering that.

Just had a thought- it's probably the sealent that's letting me down :s before i got the van it had been sitting in a driveway untouched with no protection from the elements for 2 years, plenty of time for the sealent to peel/rot. any advice on sealent or resealing?

Think most people use Silkaflex, Tigerseal or similar.

That won't really sort the underlying problem though which is probably rot related. There's been several rather shocking threads on here over the years of what can be lurking under a high or pop top (including one by me). You'd be a lot better off if it was coming in past the tailgate seal but I doubt it.

same problem on the front of my van, if left out or driven in the rain your feet get wet, temporary cure is a £1.50 tarp from DIY shop, some shock cord and 6 plastic clips, the tarp is secured over the windscreen deflecting the rain, problem is i cant use it when driving.

A bit late responding to this one but we have the same problem. Water drips in at the back exactly above where your head would be when sleeping. Nearside only. Only happens when parking on slight incline, nose up. I think I've traced it to the seal around the front end of the high-top leaking. I think this might be causing wet footwell too as it's dried upatPont and back since being parked for the winter.
