i used the normal gasket not the rubber one and have had no leaks.the rubber one is part of the windage tray on your 1y and if you use that you will need to extend the holes or youll put tension on the sump
not sure if the rubber one from brickwerks can go on without having to extend them though..someone else might know
yeah..them flywheel bolts are good aint they...i used a long bar and (not sure how this will sound) Jerked them off !!!

if you know what i mean

So the two clutch cover bolts that were chewed up and stuck eventually came off with the assistance of a blow torch, a breaker bar and a very big hammer.
Removed the clutch.
Took off the flywheel. The actually flywheel bolts all came off nice and easily.

The poo plate, was also removed. I'm pretty certain it's not actually off a T3/T25 it was so badly fitting. Need to source correct one of these.

How much material should a clutch have left on it to be worthwhile reusing?
Is this one too goosed to bother with?

here's a new one for comparison
I'd say about 2mm off the rivet
Its the norm to change it but yours looks like there's plenty on it.
Don't forget the spigot bearing !

Which bolts is it you're not meant to reuse? The ones holding the fly wheel on or the ones holding the clutch cover on?
Do clutch kits come with new clutch cover bolts, as several are chewed up? Or do these have to be sourced separately?

Does anyone have any idea where to get the diesel poo plate from?

use the clutch bolts off the 1y if they are the same

the "pooh" plate is fine if it keeps the muck out unless you absolutley need to have the right part

Thanks for all the advice.

There is a gap about 3x2 inches right at the bottom. It doesn't keep stuff out.

Have had a bit of a rest from working in this project. Am waiting for the Halfords Professional Torque wrenches to go on offer again.

Today did a couple if bits and bobs.
Have even having a bit of a think about the engine mounts. The bars attached to the engine are off and a few bolts sheared whilst removing. Now whilst most if them are just normal bolts, on the near side from mount to the chassis, there was an extra kind of bracket.
Image
Is this normal or is it an addition?
One of the bolts attached to this plate has sheared and yet appear to be welded in so I may have to grind it out and get something welded in.
Do other people have this plate on their vans?

As an aside - do you know offhand why the panel vans etc had that plate and the passenger ones didn't? (Just for interest's sake, don't have to know! )

Well that's the gearbox dropped. Certainly an interesting job to do completely on your own.
And don't get me started on the bolts holding the clutch slave on.
