Hi, not been here for a while.
Decided to change my oil today, now not done this since ive owned my van but there has always been a oil drip from the drain plug and i think i have discovered why... when you put the plug back in you can do it up finger tight and when i put the spanner on to tighten a little further it just spins and loosens again. I believe someone has over tightened in the past and messed up the treads. any suggestions to get it to do up? Thanks

Definitely sounds like a Previous Owner has overtightened and stripped the thread, probably because they were too tight to change the copper washer. You could helicoil it, with an insert, but it might be a bit difficult without taking the engine out.

Use ptfe tape for a temporary fix
15 turns should seal it before you get to the stripped thread
