cuts out
Hi just been towed back from devon. Just done about 700 miles on holiday, everything fine apart from when under load going up hill it did a couple of hick ups, I put it down to stress on the hills, anyway was fine after that until we set off home and it hick upt like made poped banged and cut out. the wouldn't start for a while but then eventually did but then after 10 miles or so. called AA they said it was the coil or the modual?. Anyway got brought back home on the truck saving me 85 quid. van wont start at all now. Also the van was running and the AA man was gonna let us go on and then it cut out on its own. Ant ideas. I have replaces all dizzy stuff leads plugs carbs rebuilt by gasure only thing I never changed was the coil.

Re: cuts out
I have just been out to the van and I took a while but it started. The AA man moved the coil that is sat on top of the engine and bolted it to the side. He said it was getting hot and it did feel hot. since he has done this it would not start. I have moved it back and now it does. This still does not explain why it cut out. I will have to buy a new one and try that.

Re: cuts out
What does anyone think of the coils at GSF 22quid as a quick fix?

Intermittent ignition faults are a bugger to identify and correct. If you're losing the sparks it could be a coil, the hall sensor / plug / wiring on the dizzie, the ignition control box or even the idle stabalizer unit. The best way is to see if you can "borrow" a spare one of everything and isolate which one is causing the problem.

I fitted the one from GSF a flamethrower. Steve at Gasure recommended it.

Re: cuts out
There are 3 things that will cause an ignition coil to fail, Overheating, Vibration, Incorrect input (primary) voltage.
