they are expensive, worth it i reckon though. Have to be honest though, first time i bought a CV boot (GKN) i thought they were dead cheap. Too cheap maybe? Time will tell, but i can see these lasting a lot longer than a year! So will work out cheaper in the long run (hopefully!)

Fitted my last new vw ones for s/p last year and so far no signs of distress...it's not about the cost really..it's that "oh you funker" feeling you get when you see cv grease all over the spot and then you can't go mudding again untill it's fixed part I don't like...and it's always a day or two before summat major and its raining.

Too true, imagine finding 4 split boots at once! Was not a happy bunny, want to get them + bearings and brakes done in the next week, kids are waiting to go away in it

Replaced my front RH outer joint on Tuesday (16"diff locks.
Coney weekend (400miles+)then a further 200 miles on the Monday, finished off what was an ailing joint.
Thankfully the original boot was still in good condition, but it is bad news when you cant fit a new CV boot for the life of the joint (accidental damage accepted).
I have no CV protectors and it has seen a fair amount of mud.

Seems like the manufacturer could be REIN as this boot has the same 3 letter code

and is listed as REIN

Maybe...vws codes can just be a plant rather than a brand as such...looks similar...where the code on that pic though?

click on the pic, then scroll through to the last image. I agree that the pyo symbol is probably the plant, maybe rein are made in the same place?

Not worth it for me, as the 16" boot is pretty much a current item, but if group buy happens i'll have a couple 14" rear boots for my front inners (cuz you lot will most likely wipe out the stock!

IIRC Atlantis :cheese has got OEM white front boots on all 4 joints. The front inner CV's are definitely both knackered but the boots are fine, I can push the shafts over in the spiders but they don't rattle when driven so must still be OK
