Judder judder

Post by Technobadger »

Hey guys
Our 1.6 td Cali has developed a knocking on full lock.
It is power steering, the rack and pipes where all new last year.
It has lost no fluid, and it only does it when we first start the van, there is also a knocking/ juddering on full lock that disappears after a few minutes.

Any thoughts welcomed
cheers
Tom

Wheels too much for the power steering? Seen it on cars.

is the noise defo from the front?

when you changed the rack /pipes can you prove the pump / fluid bottle were cleaned/flushed through including the filter being cleaned?

No sorry I should have said
The noise comes from the back
I've checked the pump, and it's still bolted on.
The steering wheel kind of pulses as you approach full lock.
All this stop after a few minutes as if it where a lack of pressure on initial start up

if this is not he case you need to do it , as it may have already damaged the new rack

filter is inside the resivoir

strip it down, hoping its still fitted of course!

wash it in some thinners/ petrol ect

system will need to be flushed through , not just drained/ replaced

It's the belt

With the engine running and the steering wheel turning the belt starts to slip under load

Phew

Cheers guys got there in the end, should open my eyes more.
